The Arts
"Where the Edge and Legacy Meet"

The designated Old Spanish Trail Cultural Corridor can boast of having a variety of arts organizations and artists that live along the trail and in the neighborhoods.

Performance art includes the Woodlawn Theatre Group, Jumpstart Performance Company, Jewel of Art Dance Studio, Danzavida De San Antonio Dance Company, Raices de Arte Espanol, and Network for Young Artists.

Network for Young Arts has been recognized by the Fiesta Commission as a Fiesta Event that brings at least 40,000 people every year to experience the concerts on several stages. We look forward to this event every Fiesta which usually occurs in April across San Antonio.

Exhibition spaces include Centro Cultural Aztlan focusing on Chicano and Tejano artists for 30 years in operation.

Clamp Light Studios and Hausman Millworks Creative Community, both located in Beacon Hill give local artists venues to exhibit as well as providing studio space that can be rented for reasonable costs.  The artists that work in these studios exhibit throughout the State of Texas and have been recognized nationally as well.

Artpace founded in 1993 is world renowned for the artist in residence program that includes every cycle, a local, national, and international artists.  These collaborative exhibitions have led to cross pollination in art through the relationships built across the world.

From exhibit, to dance , theatre,  to music,  and vocals, these are all along the Old Spanish Trail Cultural Corridor.  The art vibe is real, authentic and has an edge.

OSTCC partners with sa philharmonic in 2023 to promote culture and business

“Music on the Old Spanish Trail” and “Diez y Seis de Septiembre” were free events that OST CC and SA Phil partnered to promote community, business and culture.

In 2023 Bexar County gave the initial financial support to have the collaboration of OSTCC with SA Phil to produce 3 events called “Music along the Old Spanish Trail” and “Diez y Seis de Septiembre.”

The purpose was to bring attention to the newly established OST CC cultural corridor and the emergence of SA Phil new branding and change of name.

The OST CC covers 7 neighborhoods, 98 businesses and several arts organizations and the events were to happen in this designated area. Beginning with Artpace Roof top, to Grace Cathedral in Alta Vista and ending at San Pedro Playhouse, the 3 combined events were attended by hundreds of people for free. The celebration of both the OST CC launch and the newly branded SA Phil was a great success. The printed programs that were provided at each event had free advertising for more than 50 businesses in the OST CC.

Closely after “Music on the Trail”, OST CC helped in the “Diez y Seis de Septiembre Celebration” in 2023 by SA Phil at Lanier HS. Lanier HS gymnasium was the location of this event that included folklorico dancers.  More than 200 attended the event that included Seniors and children together to celebrate Hispanic culture  during Hispanic Heritage month.

These collaborated free events are critical and essential in helping in the promotion of culture and business by setting the events within the community and accessible to all.
